Vic: Sacked officer fights dismissal

Sacked Victorian country cop EDWARD ROBB will fight his termination and lodge an appeal.

Chief Commissioner CHRISTINE NIXON exercised never-before-used powers of no-confidence
yesterday when she ousted the former senior constable based at Benalla in the state's
north.

Ms NIXON vowed in June to rid the force of corrupt and unethical officers in a bid
to restore public confidence.

Police Association secretary Senior Sergeant PAUL MULLETT says the association's in
discussion with Mr ROBB about his future.

And an appeal will be lodged through the Police Appeals Board.

Mr ROBB's solicitor, TONY HARGREAVES, says he's spoken to his client but won't confirm
if he still plans to sue the force for defamation.
