Two die on nation's roads today, taking holiday road toll to 10

The national road toll for the holiday period stands at 10, with two people killed
on the nation's roads today.

A father of three from Brisbane had died near Grong Grong in southern New South Wales,
after his car left the Newell Highway and hit a tree this morning.

The man's three children were in the vehicle, with the youngest daughter, aged seven,
and a nine-year-old suffering serious injuries.

They were taken to Canberra Hospital, while the eldest daughter, aged 13, escaped injury.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in Bendigo in Victoria's
north west early today.

The Victorian holiday road toll now stands at four, while NSW has recorded two deaths.

In Queensland, four people have died on the state's roads and two people have died
in South Australia.

No deaths have been reported in Western Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory.
